AESTHETIC ANARCHY
As a school project with were tasked with making a magazine with a subject of our choosing. I have
had a strong fascination with the alternative fashions of Harajuku and decided to make my magazine
about it. This allowed me to use bright and fun colors, and a playful style, which I always enjoy
working with.

A NOD TO THE CRAFTYNESS
Harajuku fashion is known for their wearers creativity and resorsefulness. With normal stores selling more basic clothing, you may need to start up a sewing machine if you really want to express yourself. Therefore a lot of Harajuku fashion is about DIY. I wanted to convey this in my magazine by making it look like it was made with arts and crafts. I conveyed this using sticker like text and images and paper like tears throughout the magazine.
AS COLORFUL AS THE FASHIONS
Many of the Harajuku fashion styles value the use of color. I wanted to make sure to support this in the magazine and not be afraid of using color, but embracing it fully.
A QUESTION AND THE ANSWER
When you first open the magazine it asks «What is Harajuku fashion?»
At the last page you get the answer: Harajuku is self expression.
